Sean Watermeyer (C82) (NHS Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist) and Dr Helen Lane (NHS Consultant Physician) have written and published "Reflections through the Waves, Poems of the Pandemic", published by SAGE Publishing ltd. All royalties go towards the following charities: Young Minds (youngsters' mental health charity), 2 Wish upon a Star (supporting sudden death in children & young adults), and Beat (an eating disorder charity).
The book represents the reflections from the Covid-19 Pandemic as experienced by two hospital consultants working in a district general hospital in the South Wales Valleys (an epicentre of the pandemic). The poems contained within reflect the hardship, the suffering, the community spirit, the pulling together and the wonderful comradery within our hospital and community. In the preface of the book, Sean and Helen have both said that it is their hope that the book provides a thought-provoking insight into what really matters in life, hope for a better future, and an appreciation of some pretty fantastic people in society.
